We'll pick it up! Follow the steps below to properly dispose of a refrigerator.
- Hire a professional to evacuate the freon from the fridge
Freon is a refrigerant used to keep your fridge cold that needs to be removed before it can be thrown away. Freon is a greenhouse gas that can damage the ozone if it gets into the air. Those certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can evacuate freon with special tools. Call an appliance store or an air conditioning company to see if they can properly remove the freon. Venting freon on your own could lead to a fine of up to $25,000 USD. - Call us and schedule a bulk trash pick-up
Bulk pick-ups are used to pick up heavy items that don't fit inside your regular trash bin. Make the call at least 24 hours in advance of when you want to throw away the fridge. Let us know you're disposing of a fridge that already has the refrigerant emptied. Please be aware that items allowed, service days and costs vary by area. If you are a commercial customer, please Contact Us. - Move the fridge to the curb the morning of or night before your scheduled pick-up
Have another 1-2 people help you maneuver the fridge outside to the curb. Don't try to move the fridge by yourself, you could get injured by trying to lift it or have it fall on you. Make sure the back of the fridge faces the street so we can see that it's ready for pick-up.
